Mater receives Community Partners Award

Thursday, 23 April 2009

In December 2008 Holy Cross Laundry, with the support of the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs celebrated International Day of People with Disability by presenting recognition awards. Mater received a Community Partners Award.

International Day of People with Disability was established by the United Nations to give recognition to the contribution that people with a disability make to our community.

Holy Cross Laundry was established by the Sisters of Mercy in 1889 to help the disadvantaged in the community. Today, their 200+ employees process 115 000 kilograms of laundry per week, providing a valuable service to a number of hospitals from Brisbane to the Gold Coast.
