Mater wins bronze at Learning In Practice Awards

Friday, 21 October 2011

Mater Health Services People and Learning Executive Director Caroline Hudson has been awarded the bronze Vanguard Award at Chief Learning Officer magazine’s global Learning In Practice Awards in California.

The Learning in Practice Awards recognise industry leaders who have demonstrated excellence in the design and delivery of employee development programs.

“I am absolutely delighted to have received this award as an acknowledgement of the hard work and dedication of the People and Learning team at Mater,” Ms Hudson said.

The Vanguard Award honours executives who have either launched a new enterprise learning function or completely overhauled existing workforce development initiatives.

Ms Hudson’s bronze award win was based on the design and delivery of the Mater Managers Program and reflects the depth, focus and genuine relevance of this program.

“Mater Managers Program provides Mater with a formal, structured, consistent and robust approach to ensure managers have the skills and knowledge to perform effectively in their current roles and to manage the business units for which they are responsible,” Ms Hudson said.

“The content and approach of the program reflect Mater's strategic and operational business objectives, and support alignment, relationship building, and improved collaboration of managers and leaders across the business.”

President and editor in chief of Chief Learning Officer magazine Norm Kamikow said the Learning In Practice Awards were established to recognise transformational and visionary leaders in enterprise education.

“A record number of top learning executives and solution providers were nominated by their peers this year. The winners are the industry leaders who truly champion innovation and transform it into learning and value for their organisations,” said Mr Kamikow.

Award winners included learning executives from PriceWaterhouseCoopers, T-Mobile USA, McDonald’s Corporation, IBM and InterContinental Hotels. Winners were announced at the Chief Learning Officer Symposium in California on 13 October 2011.
