Mater celebrates Mental Health Week

Mental illness can affect anyone.

As one of Queensland’s leading healthcare providers, we know that more than 20 per cent of Australians live with some form of mental illness. Mental Health Week (9 to 15 October), provides an opportunity to acknowledge and reflect on mental health, the importance of mental wellbeing, and celebrate the contributions made by mental health workers.

Mater is committed to providing both professional and personal support to our people, and supports the theme for this year’s Mental Health Week—value mental health—which encourages us to value not only our own mental health and wellbeing, but that of our family, friends and colleagues—at home, at work, and at play.

During the week, we are also encouraged to help reduce stigma surrounding mental health and raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing. By valuing mental health and wellbeing at work, we create a positive, supportive workplace culture.

To celebrate Queensland Mental Health Week, a #100daysin100ways campaign has been created, which shares simple ways in which we can value our mental health, and that of those around us, on a daily basis.
