Recruitment commences for Mater Private Hospital Springfield

The recruitment process for stage one of Mater Private Hospital Springfield is now underway with all nursing, administration and support roles being advertised over several weeks.

Up to 12 senior positions including Nurse Managers and Team Leaders for support services, food services and administration are open for applications.

A further 90 full-time, part-time and casual positions will be advertised from mid-June.  These vacancies will include up to 45 inpatient and perioperative nursing roles, several oncology nursing positions and a small number of administrative and support service vacancies.

Mater Springfield Director Fritha Mackay said it was an exciting milestone to be recruiting over 100 staff members who would provide exceptional care and service to patients of Mater Private Hospital Springfield.

“We have our Support Services Manager starting with us shortly and we will have our Nursing Director on board in early July,” she said.

“With less than six months until the hospital opens, we have started the recruitment process relatively early to ensure we have the best candidates trained and ready from the first day we open, supported by a strong leadership team.

“We have already received strong interest in recruitment opportunities from the community and we expect that successful candidates will include current Mater staff from South Brisbane and Redland, as well as local experienced nursing and support service professionals.

“We are seeking staff who are enthusiastic to work within a new and dynamic team, who meet the key position criteria and who most importantly embody Mater’s Values of Mercy, Dignity, Care, Commitment, and Quality.”

All positions will be advertised on Mater’s careers website as well as on the SEEK employment website. People interested in working for Mater can join its Talent Community through Mater's careers website to receive alerts when new positions are advertised.

Located at Springfield Central, the hospital will provide a range of medical and surgical services for inpatients and patients requiring day surgery procedures, as well as chemotherapy treatment supported by $21.4 million in Australian Government funding for a cancer care centre.

With much of the scaffolding removed from the fa├žade, excitement is building for the completion of stage one.

Construction is progressing to schedule with the final stages of works underway. There is considerable activity internally across all trades and a number of necessary services for the running of the hospital are being installed.

Mater has a master plan for the hospital precinct within Health City Springfield Central, which incorporates a number of expansion stages which will be rolled out to meet the demands of the region.
