Innovation and Excellence at Mater Private Hospital Springfield

Mater Private Hospital Springfield was recognised as a finalist in the 2017 Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards for their individual room control.

Engineering consultancy Norman Disney & Young offered the innovative solution to patient comfort, allowing patients to control the temperature, blinds and lighting of their room.

Director of Mater Private Hospital Springfield Justin Greenwell said it was an honour to be a finalist in the Project Innovation category of the Awards.

“Research shows that the more a patient feels in control, the more positive their health outcomes; and with patient care at the heart of everything we do at Mater, our patient’s health outcomes are a key priority.”

Mater’s Director of Built Environment Joanna Vasiliou said aesthetics was a key focus in the design of the hospital.

“Patients don’t comment so freely about their clinical care as they do about the environment that they are being cared in. It was important to have the comfort factor for the patient experience.”

Norman Disney & Young joined Mater for the announcement of the national award winners on 5 May, with Aura Engagement Excellence Program winning the category.
