About us

Our Objectives

The key objective of the MMRC is to conduct nationally and internationally competitive multidisciplinary research which builds on the strength of the clinical services of the MMH’s and MHS as a whole.

As a Research Centre of the Mater Health Services, the Mater Mothers’ Research Centre (MMRC) values the ministry of the Sisters of Mercy, and incorporates these values into the day to day running and strategic direction of the centre. In-line with the Mater values, the key research areas of the MMRC are aimed at improving outcomes for the most-at-risk or disadvantaged populations.

Our Vision

To be a major global contributor to knowledge that leads to improved health for women and newborn infants particularly those in greatest need.

Our Mission

To generate new knowledge and promote the translation of new and existing knowledge into clinical practice at the Mater and throughout Queensland, Australia and the world.

Our Goal

To gain national and international recognition as a centre of research excellence in the study of population health, evidence based health care and innovative clinical research in the areas of maternity, newborn and women’s health.
